Recap of the Tournament, by Karen Pierce (Operations Coordinator, WOW Logistics)

September 10, 2011 was another beautiful day for a softball tournament.  Friends gathered from all genres to compete for a huge traveling trophy that represents the memory of a fallen friend.  The friends made up six great softball teams.  Jerome Cheese, Hilex, The Firefighters, Glanbia, The East End Merchants (Jesse's old softball team), and WOW Logistics completed the playing brackets.  At 8:30 AM, a local Boy Scout Troop Color Guard Posted the American Flag as the players watched on.  The day progressed with tons of great plays and awesome hits.  We broke at noon for some excellent dutch oven pulled pork sandwiches and brats, with the Merchants and Jerome Cheese undefeated.  Play resumed with Jerome Cheese breaking the Merchants winning streak and taking home the Championship trophy.

WOW Logistics would also like to thank our sponsors who helped make this event a great success. These companies include: Darigold, Idaho Power, Sonitrol Pacific, Freedom Electric, and US Bank. Additionally, WOW venders, Arbon Equipment, D and B Supply, Ecolab, Sober Riders Motorcycle Club offered prizes for a raffle which included a helicopter ride from Scott Jackson Trucking.

All in all the charity tournament was a great success. WOW presented a check to South Central Community Action Partnership for $5,000 which will go directly to helping local Idaho residents in need.

The tournament, which began in 2008 in remembrance of Jesse Simpson, a WOW Logistics' employee who lost his battle with cancer, has raised over $30,000 for local Idaho charities.
